7 Foods That’ll Keep Your Mouth Healthy & Happy

Everyone loves to eat. Everyone loves to have a healthy mouth. So why not bring both of these loves together? Your mouth does more than just eat and drink, it can be like a window to your whole body. Some diseases that affect your entire body (things like diabetes) can be noticed initially in your mouth (because of things like mouth sores or other oral problems). 

Eating the right food can not only be good for your body, but also you teeth! 1. Cheese 

If you’re a cheese lover, here’s another delicious reason to stock up on cheese. Cheese is vital to maintaining overall health, especially when it comes to your bones health. When you eat cheese you increase your saliva production (which helps rinse and clean your teeth). 2. Green Tea

Not only is green tea one of the most popular beverages in the world, it is packed full of health benefits (like antioxidants, anticancer, anti-anxiety effects and the list goes on). When it comes to your teeth, green tea can help prevent dental caries (caries is the fancy term for tooth decay).  Green tea has also has a positive correlation to improved periodontal health. It might be worth swapping out one of your cups of joe for green tea.

3. Apples or other crunchy fruits
You know what they say, an apple a day… Can help keep cavities away.  Apples and other crunchy fruit are low in sugar (which helps keep cavities from forming) and also because you’ll be munching away they give you gums some well-needed stimulated.  Apples are also great for saliva production which helps rinse away bacteria and little food bits.

4. Strawberries

Those sweet little berries are not only delicious but can also help whiten your teeth! Aside from whitening your enamel, the polyphenols in strawberries can help protect you against oral cancer, according to a review conducted by the Journal of Dentistry.

5. Cranberries
Thanksgiving lovers rejoice! Cranberries are not only a tart lovers dream but various studies have shown that cranberries have some serious tooth protecting benefits. One oral biologist found that cranberry juice actual like “Telfon for teeth, making it difficult for the bacteria that causes cavities to cling to tooth surfaces”.  Another benefit to cranberries is that they actually help disrupt the formation of plaque.

6. Salmon and Other fish 

Fatty fish like salmon are known for being rich in vitamin D and we cannot write enough about how good vitamin D is for you. 

Various researchers have looked into vitamin D’s effect on the body and found that vitamin D can help improve tooth movement and stability as well as found that vitamin D is linked to having lower dental caries.

7. Raisins 
Yes, you read that right. Raisins are super good for your teeth. The phytochemicals found in raisins (specifically one called oleanolic acid) have been found to fight the bacteria that causes cavities and gum disease.

Raisins have also been found to stop bacteria from sticking to the teeth making it more difficult for cavities to form. Researchers have recommended having raisins daily, it will have a good impact on your teeth.
