For children: If crowding is spotted early, we can sometimes make room while the jaw is still growing, using an expander or by holding space when a baby tooth is lost early. This can reduce how much treatment is needed later.
For teens and adults: Braces and clear aligners both straighten crowded teeth. The key part of the plan is how space is created, whether that’s widening the arch, polishing small amounts of enamel, or in severe cases removing a tooth.
After treatment: Retainers keep crowding from coming back. Crowded teeth have a strong tendency to shift, so wearing your retainer as directed is the best way to protect your result.
